PRC authority requires an immediate work safety inspection

7 April 2010

Given that severe accidents have happened one after another in China (e.g. recent Shanxi coal mine accident), the PRC State Council Work Safety Committee issued a circular on 2 April 2010 requiring an immediate nationwide work safety inspection, which will especially focus on enterprises engaged in coal mines and other mines, chemicals, fireworks, nonferrous metallurgy, road transportation, water transportation, railway transportation, civil aviation, construction, water conservancy, electricity, agricultural machinery, fishing vessels, special type equipments, civil explosive materials, fire fighting, etc..
The enterprises set up in China engaged in the above industries should pay attention to the inspection. In this regard, the related legislations include PRC Work Safety Law (promulgated in June 2002), the Regulations on Work Safety Permit (promulgated in January 2004) and a number of other implementing regulations and rules.
